Seminar - Participation place (EN)
€400.00€250.00
A 5-day immersive planting workshop (theory & practice) from 9 to 13 March 2026 – led by Felipe Amato and Casa Altermundialista.
Included services: workshop, community organized meals
Not included: Travel, accomodation, accident and travel insurance, any extension of stay and adventure holiday offers such as surfing courses, etc.
Important note: The workshop language is English. If you are unsure whether your language skills are good enough, please feel free to contact us. There will be time for questions and if there are too many people with language barriers, we will also organise translations. The accommodation ‘La Retoral’ must be filled with at least 10 participants. Therefore, there are ‘early bird’ prices for these 10 participants, which barely cover our costs. (€650) - Please email us before booking through this shop. Caravan pitches are limited and will only be offered once the minimum number of participants has been reached. If the price is still too high for you, please give us a call or send us an email. It is important to us that you still have the opportunity to be part of our education program, even if your budget does not allow it. We are working on scholarship programs.
A five-day introductory workshop with syntropic agroforestry expert Felipe Amato from the Terra Network will cover the background, how it works and practical hands-on experience - we will plant a forest-like system for the production of regenerative sidra, a typical Asturian product, jams and dried fruits on one hectare - and for building a healthy, stable and resilient agricultural ecosystem and soil. The workshop is aimed at anyone who wants to know how we can produce climate-resilient food while building ecosystems instead of destroying them: gardeners, farmers, urban planners, teachers, private individuals – there really is something for everyone here if you want to learn about our role as humans in nature and understand its natural processes.
About the teacher: Felipe Amato is an agroforestry expert from the very beginning. As a student of Ernst Götsch, he learned the basics of syntropic agroforestry in Brazil and has been successfully applying them on his own farm for many years. With the TERRA Network, which also includes the flagship projects ‘Hof Verde’ in Germany and ‘La Loma Viva’ in Almeria, Spain, he now oversees more than 20 projects across Europe that are converting to syntropic agroforestry. Casa Altermundialista aims to be one of these projects from 2026 onwards.
About the learning location: In the mild, humid climate of Asturias, with up to 1200 mm of rainfall per year, moisture-resistant crops that can survive periods of drought in summer are a must. Although the climate is very unique, it can serve as a blueprint for other, more humid climates such as Germany. Casa Altermundialista is located in a river valley, which means that humidity and cooler temperatures affect the plants. We work with very high-quality soil, which has strong properties thanks to years of rotational grazing. The practical phases take place at the Casa.
About Accommodation: There are several accommodation options. The basic option, which is included in the price, is ‘La Retoral’ – an old, beautifully renovated farmhouse where our friends from ‘Enjoy Native’ (Casa – Enjoy Native), combine our love of Asturian landscapes with the rural lifestyle to offer adventure holidays and surf camps. The theoretical parts of the workshop also take place there. Alternatively, we can offer a few discounted pitches for motorhomes and campers. Please contact us for more information.
About Food and Catering: We were able to secure the services of a master of his craft and true artist with the spatula to cater for the workshop, Luis Camacho, from Ibi, Alicante, where he runs the restaurants ‘Taverna D'Origen’ and ‘Cassana’. Luis is a passionate chef who often visits markets, selects ingredients that inspire him and then cooks whatever stories the ingredients tell him, revealing secrets about their origin and production. Luis often stands in his kitchen or dining room and, with eyes as wide as a little boy at Christmas, tells us what the ingredients have revealed to him. He will conjure up a menu for us based on the crops we plant. Every day will bring a new culinary surprise. Because only when we experience the change in our agriculture culturally will it truly become real for us.
